Arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport of Bangkok safely last night.
Bangkok is indeed food and shopping heaven. If you're looking for a diet retreat, this is definitely the WRONG place to be. Will hunt for durians tonight.
Did you know the Suvarnabhumi International Airport is pronounced as "soo-wanna-poom"?
Remove the 'M' letter and what do you get?
Probably the largest toilet in the world ever created for aeroplanes landing. Or the largest airport created to fit the theme of a washroom. Ermm...
And did you know that Bangkok was originally named as "Krung Thep" in 1782 by King Rama I, a short term for "Krung thep mahanakhon amorn ratanakosin mahintharayutthaya mahadilok pop noparatratchathani burirom udomratchanivetmahasathan amornpiman avatarnsathit sakkathattiyavisnukarmprasit".
Guess what? Turns out it still hold the world's longest place name by the Guinness Book of Records.
Gee, I wonder if the King sat at his throne and decided to create this name in a day? Or did he like hire a whole creative team to brand the country? Or maybe it was created in his dream?? And was simply mumbling when the advisor was taking serious notes down. Before you know it, oh look, nice name, a bit long, but nice name. Let's put this as the country's name so no one can imitate me. I own the LONGEST!! MUAHAHA...( name, what else? You dirty minded minx!)
PS// If you're wondering what that name means in English? It means "The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city (of Ayutthaya) of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarn"
Ok, I'm out of breath.
