Question...

"If there's a place anywhere on earth that you could be right now, where do you want it to be?"

Ever dream of closing your eyes and pin point any spot on a map, and the next second you'll be catching the next plane to that location for a long getaway.

The ultimate dream of a traveler. Total freedom, of choice and of responsibilities and commitments.

I love this particular comment a reader, Adam, posted in my previous post; he typed and I quote: "the best thing about traveling is as soon as the plane takes off you just forget about everything at home".

Oh, I so totally agree. And it has been ages since I felt the joy and excitement of boarding a plane to somewhere distant.

And you know what. I will do that. In fact, I am already planning my journey since mid this year. By September next year, once I finish my study, gather enough savings, established a stable income generating scheme, I will be departing for what I like to call, a mini globe conquest.

To somewhere far, somewhere nice, and for at least few months, three? four? six? a year?

So my question now, is:

If there is one place/country you would or you want to see this blog go, where would it be?

*Update*

Places I've been in recent years and don't feel like visiting anytime soon: France, Italy, England, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Scotland, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia & Hong Kong.

Places I don't mind visiting again: Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Ireland, USA & China.

  9. I am a former Malaysian (now a US Citizen and have lived in the US for over 10 years). I've traveled EVERYWHERE around the world for work and for leisure.

If I have to pick ONE favorite place to go to over and over again, it would have to be Ibiza, Spain (in the summer time).

Heavenly beaches (it's in the mediterranean), awesome crowds (plenty of friendly Italians, Englishmen), wonderful Tapas and the BEST clubs/parties/music in the world! It's a bit spendy though (expensive hotels/resorts. It cost app. 100 Euros per club event, drinks are like 10 Euros each). We went to 2 parties a night for a period of 2 weeks so it all easily adds up.

  26. Try Norway. Take the Fjord tour there and enjoy the beautifull scenery. Its one place which can be described as an underdog when naming holiday spots as not many ppl realise how beautifull that place is and always think that visiting places like paris (stinky!) is a alot better. Sigh!

  56. Hi,

After traveling to 25 countries, I feel that I progressively became a better traveler. But after Africa, I feel I became a better person. I would hook up with a multi-week overland tour of southern Africa and get adventurous. See some animals. Get challenged. I cant wait to go back next year!

Anyway, whatever you decide, I am sure I will enjoy reading about it.

  62. All of you made suggestions without thinking....pls make a realistic suggestion for a young girl like Nicole....young travellers normally wants something affordable, cheap, adventures etc...

you know what? Suggestions such as travelling throughout Kalimantan or even Borneo could still be fun and educational. you dont have to travel to scandinavia or those places faraway which can cost you a bomb.(unless you can afford)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sigh running away never solves anything......:(

  64. Why don't you just take a whole year off and travel around the world? Get a round the world ticket and start by KL-Sydney-Auckland-Honolulu...Look at taking up some casual jobs along the way such as teaching English or Mandarin, join some Contiki tours and back pack some of the way. As long as you are sensible you will be fine. Do it now before you are too old!

  69. where i would go, am going, and just got back from is istanbul turkey.

its quite amazing how you have the european scenery with the middle eastern hospitality and food..... you know all those travel books books that start with " a land of contrast, blah, blah, blah,..... " well istanbul is probably where it first originated.

its like a schizophrenic city which is probably why i like it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Well I'm in the Netherlands at the moment for two years so if you want lodging in a quiet Dutch town (Wageningen). Actually if any other Malaysian wants to as well...

Probably will backpack a bit around Europe in July and August next year. I'm thinkin' will want to cover Spain for the running of the bulls and La Tomantina. And also San Sebastian has been the one place I've wanted to visit while in I'm over here. Then work my way through North Africa (which I'm hoping will cost me less), Sicily, then Greece and Eastern Europe (again hope will cost me less) then back to where I am now.
