Okay fine, I admit. Harajuku girls got style

It was a weekday. I decided to take a stroll down the Harajuku street.

To see with my own eyes what are all these fuss about Harajuku girls in Tokyo. What do they have that I don’t?

I took almost every opportunity to snap photos while taking this ‘stroll’ in Harajuku. I couldn’t say I have seen a lot of goth-looking girls or cosplay outfits, as I have said, it was a weekday.

But seriously, Tokyo teens sure know how to dress up. Even better than girls in Kuala Lumpur, better than those superficial girls in Singapore, better those spoilt rich kids in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Compare to Tokyo, people in Malaysia dress in a way as if they just come out from the stone-age. Shame on us….

Let me present to you….

*drum rolls*

The girls on Harajuku street!

IMG_2640

Do keep in mind this is just a typical weekday. What you see here if what they wear casually every single day in Tokyo.

IMG_2645
Don’t you know blue hair and blue shirt combination is out this season?

IMG_2642
Hmm, this girl got style..

IMG_2647
I like her fashion sense, such a fashionista

These are photos I took randomly along the street,

IMG_2654

And these girls are the people I pass by, in a 30 minutes walk around Harajuku.

IMG_2648

Even the most normal looking looks really decent with style.

IMG_2641

IMG_2662

There are also Harajuku boys,

IMG_2652
Woo, I like the way you walk with you shirt hanging by your wrist, are you trying to create the 'wind' effect

IMG_2655

IMG_2660
Back to girl again. “out shopping missy?”

And there are funky couples too,

From the normal

IMG_2661

To the cool,

IMG_2663
I really like her white skirt, from side view it look almost gorgeous

To special ones,

IMG_2664
Casual to the left and formal to the right pls…

This dude stands out

IMG_2672

This is my favourite girl of all

IMG_2671

she looks a bit sian

This one spend too much time in the dog pound

IMG_2666
If you notice carefully, her hair bun is the biggest in thing in Japan right now

IMG_2668

This photo was taken because the guy walking my way looks like some celebrity strutting across the street.

Which is the total opposite of this photo,

IMG_2674
Please ignore the black poodle on the right

IMG_2676
I love her red hair, which match her red top, and red stockings

Even the larger size ladies in Japan are never reluctant to dress up, which is something I admire a lot.

IMG_2669

IMG_2670

IMG_2680
“Oh no, don’t take photo of me, I’m shy~”

Oh look! There’s a man in this very cute scooter!

IMG_2678
Wash eye, wash eye

And this is Harajuku town,

IMG_2679
Washing washing…

Suddenly saw a cute girl in the distance.

IMG_2684

Okay back to Harajuku girls.

Some girls here dress, well, uniquely.

IMG_2673
Did she just come out from CandyLand?

IMG_2677
What’s with the hat and the umbrella? Oh see the high bun I mentioned earlier on the right.

IMG_2675
These two caught my attention. You think?

And from here onwards, I kinda walked into a street of the tall and beautiful.

All the girls in this street are either slim, tall or pretty, or all.

IMG_2685
Slim and pretty

IMG_2688
Slim and stylish

Oh lookie there, kimono girls crossing the street.

IMG_2689

IMG_2692
A bit weird but still pretty, tall and slim

IMG_2691
Cute and white

IMG_2687
The kimono girls again

IMG_2686
Ohhh, I love her hair, oo.. I love her dress too, and her shoes, she looks like doll

Walking babies here are so stylish too, 3 by 3.

IMG_2690
Baby on the right is so cute.

IMG_2696
A bit fierce but I like her outfit.

IMG_2697
Again with the pretty, slim and tall.

IMG_2695
Oh no, she’s looking at me. Don’t care, still take, I like your hat.

IMG_2699
Pretty pretty

The aunties here also very trendy one wo, see the way they dress.

IMG_2698

IMG_2694
I think she is an aunty? No? She’s not??

Introducing Harajuku Groupies,

IMG_2700
Do-Re-Mi-Fa

Back to pretty girls,

IMG_2701
Pretty and sexy

IMG_2705
Where do they do their hair?! It’s like they came out from a magazine!

IMG_2706
Nothing special, I just like the school girl uniform

Even though they are teens, it never fail them to be fashion victim.

IMG_2713

IMG_2716
Silver shoes and black stocking, I don’t know man.

IMG_2714
Sorry, I just love their school uniforms.

We all know that human is the only species whereby the male group is generally less attractive than the female’s. But you gotta admit, in Japan, guys excel in fashion.

IMG_2703

Well, compare to other males in other countries.

IMG_2708

I think.

Harajuku is a good place to do your occasional shopping too.

IMG_2712

Very occasional.

IMG_2709
Omg, I love this dress!! Don’t you? I don’t know where I am going to wear it but I just love it!

IMG_2710
So goth, so cool!

IMG_2711
The white one on the right is my favourite.

In Harajuku, even the male mannequins look so funky.

IMG_2667

End.

  19. totally agree with nicole.Over here, I notice girls in KL either overdo the sexyness (we're not complaining, but not fashionable lah) or just plain practical clothing.

    ReplyDelete

  28. I'm surprised nobody has commented on your ...... yet.

"Superficial girls", "Spoilt rich kids"...These people are found everywhere, not just in Singapore, Taiwan, HK. Plus people in Malaysia dress like they're from the stone-age? Can't believed no-one has disagreed with you on this.

Half of the photos you posted have people who dress up the same way as any normal person who could be walking around town of Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong..basically anywhere.

The other half of the photos will include people dressed up basically as the way whisperer mentioned - like Halloween. I don't see how it's a shame for Malaysians to not dress up like they 'just came out from CandyLand'.

With that said, Tokyo teens dress up better than those in KL, Sg, HK, Tw?
    ...
Wow, you call yourself a traveller.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "Plus people in Malaysia dress like they're from the stone-age? Can't believed no-one has disagreed with you on this."

No one disagreed because it's just a metaphor lor...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh.. I love this post. Cool photos about their wearing... Love their style.. (I mean some)

I am wondering.. do you just stood in the middle of the road and snap these photos? lol... Anyway.. good job!
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. cool pics. i wouldn't dare to snap pics like that. not even brave enough to ask permission. hehe.

they might look 'biasa' but if you're actually there and see these people with your own eyes, you would feel a little different and wow-ed a bit. it's just different.
