I cut my hair, short!
Dress: Victoria's Secret

I finally did it. After 20 long years of having waist-length, chest-length, even butt-length hair, I went ahead and cut my hair short.
Isn't that how most long hair girl said it whenever they have a life-changing haircut of their lives?
However, two decades is a long time to adopt a change.
Why I did it? It was getting heavy.
Yea, and I suddenly realized that after twenty long years. -.-
Secondly, do you have having long and heavy untrimmed unlayered hair causes hair fall? Yea they do grow back, but then those baby hair can be so annoying when you're doing an up-do.
And the amount of time it takes to wash them! I swear I have spent at least double the time of an average short hair girl in the toilet just to shampoo and condition and comb out my long hair. It's even more exhausting after every swim, what with chlorine-rich water making my hair extremely tough to detangle and comb out.
It was one of the reason I put off swimming and going to the gym (sweating means washing hair more frequently) most of the time. It's not an excuse, it's how much I dislike washing my heavy hair.
NOT ONLY it takes forever to wash them, it takes forever for them to DRY. Like normally I put off washing my hair in the evening because I don't like to go to bed with a half-dry hair, I would just wake up with my hair all messed up and FIXED in that messed-up do.
And then it will take forever for me to blow dry them out.
It takes forever to curl them, style them, etc. The list goes on.
Erm, I should do a separate post on why long hair is no good. NO GOOD.
During the last of my long hair (before I went to cut it), I no longer bother to curl or style them, I usually just tie them up in a low pony tail, or leave them in their natural straight form.

So I did it.
I cut it short. All of the length.
Duffy from Tokyo Disneysea, that night after I cut my hair right before bedtime.
In fact, I cut it twice.
I played with this length for about a week, and being not too happy with the length, it was still somewhat long, I went ahead and cut it even shorter. I will share more photos of that here in another post.
Excitedly, I started styling it almost immediately. Velcro rollers and all.
Following this hairstyle, I played with a lot more hairstyles before I proceed to go for a shorter length.
Will be sharing more photos soon.
This was a very matured Japanese look which I adored in most matured ladies in Japan. I wanted to try it out and it turned out brilliantly. I could see myself in this hairstyle even well into my 40s.
It actually wasn't that bad even for my age, because after half a day, the curl loosen up and it looks younger and more natural, most importantly, it has VOLUME (long hair girls will understand this), and still looks feminine!
Viva la short hair!

I use to have really long hair as well. When I cut my hair I felt liberated like you did. The weight of my hair was gone and it didn't take too long to comb anymore. I never went back to very long hair. I try to keep my hair to shoulder length. You look great with short hair. I look forward to see you styling your hair for different posts.
ReplyDeletePretty pretty! It has been such a while since your last post. Looking forward to your updates!
