Belated Valentine's Dinner + OOTD

2013-02-18 20.10.28

Recently I visited Mandarin Grill as a celebration of a belated Valentines dinner, since I was sleeping throughout the day on Valentines day itself (having just returned from Japan that early morning).

They have changed a new chef and has apparently improved their food quality, which from where I was dining, I took a peek through the kitchen glass and saw the young Swiss head chef was pretty good looking, tall and fit. And I heard he is single, so single ladies out there... LOL

For the night I donned on my new Mango black gown bought over the new year's and my Victoria's Secret glittery clutch. It was my first visit to Mandarin Grill.

Love their bread. Cute and flavorful. Three flavors: regular, onion and charred.

my cod

This came out almost raw initially, so had it sent back to the kitchen with the manager apologizing profusely (o.O, he even bowed his head at the end), and was promptly replaced with a new one perfectly poached.

Risotto which I had a taste, it was nice but if you're going to finish the whole plate, it might get a little rich.

I loved the dessert the most: chocolate sphere. Presentation was interesting.

Inside was a yogurt sorbet and raspberry sauce. But the chocolate sauce was divine.

In the end the manager decided to offer the dessert I ordered complimentary because of the cod dish mistake. Which was a surprisingly nice gesture.

I would like to return to Mandarin Grill again. Such a pleasant evening.

Vanity Trove - Your Every Month's Beauty Kit

When I first heard about Vanity Trove last year, I thought it was a great idea.

Vanity trove
January 2013 edition.
Pardon the blurry photo, taken with my iPad. At that point my phone was in the room charging.

It's basically a company that sends out these little gifts of beauty products, mainly targeting female crowd, every month when you subscribe to it, you will receive a Vanity Trove at your doorstep every month. The brilliant part is you have no idea what sort of products you will be receiving each month.

Consider it as a present to yourself, or a girlfriend, or a bff. A monthly little surprises that will put a smile on your face.

This is how I receive my Vanity Trove every month.

I like the fact that it comes in this pretty little box covered with confetti and shredded paper of diff color each month, all the items neatly arranged when you open it. It does feel like someone wrap this as an intended present just for you.

And I get to try all these cool new products I have never tried before, every single month. Most of them I would never have bought them personally because let's face it, how often does one buy everything off the beauty market at a full bottle just to sample it.

This month I got a lot of facial products. All I find very useful. Especially two of them targeting my pore problems which I've been dealing with.

Rainy Afternoon & OOTD Japan

What a glorious beautiful day.

The heavy rain in the afternoon washed up the town and left the city with this after-rain breath of fresh air. It's so refreshing. After an early morning, a good lunch at a Japanese restaurant, a good nap and a good walk on the treadmill, it's already the evening. I wish the day would last longer.

It's so nice reading a book in the after-rain post work out.

Here's an ootd during my CNY in Tokyo, Japan

OOTD: Furry Coat

2013-02-11 20.21.56

Bought this faux fur bear-ear coat from Asos before my trip to Japan to brace the cold.

It was one of the best buys ever.

It's so warm, and I only need to wear a layer inside for weather around 0-5 degree Celsius. No scarf needed. It looks both cute and elegant too. ^^

Bangkok Elephant Show

IMG_3565

It was part of the day tour of the floating market, we visited a carving center selling all the local handicraft which was a tourist scam but really neat for a visit anyhow. Followed by a rather entertaining elephant show in a zoo (I think it was a zoo).
