Mother's Day Special: L'Occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc

Loccitane pushed out two new gift sets for Mother's Day: Golden Iris and Heavenly Divine.

I received two products from the Golden Iris set: Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Body Milk and Eau De Toilette.

From the La Collection De Grasse which ingredients cultivated from flowers of the perfumed land of Grasses on the French Riviera, The Golden Iris set comes with EDT, Shower Gel, Body Milk and a limited edition tote bag. The star product 75ml Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc EDT is derived from two types of Iris flowers: floral water extract of Blue Iris Pallida from Grasse and extract of White Iris Florentina from the Mediterranean.

Top Note
Blackcurrant & citrus
Heart
Iris, ylang-ylang & peach
Base
Iris, cedar & white musk

dual box packaging

I like the EDT and find it very suitable for casual home usage. The body milk is very soft on the skin and the scent very unique (in a good way because that way and it won't be a generic smell).

samples of the heavenly divine set. Tried all of them. Eye cream is quite easy on the eyes (good for sensitive eyes), the other two are quite easy to apply on, extract is a little sticky upon application but easily absorbed by the skin.

HUGO WOMAN & HUGO MAN Review

I've always been a fan of fragrances. I have more fragrances than I can count and my desk drawer could hold. But I've always liked having choices of fragrances each morning, different fragrances suit different moods: fun, sexy, flirty, serious, gala, classy, business, happy, melancholy, etc.

The thing is I've never thought I would wear a fragrance that speaks business, until recently when it has become apparent that I need to at times. And I've never really come across a fragrance that speaks business and formality, bold but feminine (maybe even alluring) all at the same time.

And that's how I would describe the HUGO Woman fragrance.

Written in the press description:
HUGO Woman is a fruity, floral fragrance with an unconventional, boyish twist, combining unexpected naturals and pioneering molecules. The scent creates a contrast of tones and sensations, fusing traditionally feminine and unexpected masculine notes to redefine the conventions of female fragrances to reflect HUGO's minimalist glamour.

The HUGO Woman has a boysenberry top note and really rich amber base note defined by sandalwood and cedar which I assume give the subtle masculine scent.

The HUGO Man fragrance was more direct, signature classic scent of all HUGO men fragrances. The bergamot and cedar leaves combination gave it an adventurous twist, vibrant but grounded, thanks to a dry base note provided by sandalwood, vetiver, cedar wood and oak moss.

The scent is also well represented by the rugged style design of the bottle.

The new HUGO Woman is already available in departmental stores and perfumeries. Do check out the prices below and try it out on your next visit to the mall.

Midori Travel Notebooks

Things have finally settled down a little in the month of April. What was supposed to be a hot dry season ended up in heavy downpours everyday at 4pm for a straight month and half.

For the first time in 14 months I could sit down and think about things other than work, it sounds a little exaggerated, sadly it's not. Truth be told, it didn't feel that a year has passed. And each month went by just as quickly. And it has been a year, isn't it? That I'm now sitting in my own shop, writing my thoughts down as the rain pours relentlessly outside. It felt unreal. I have been so occupied that I didn't have time to rejoice in the many things occurring in my life. I left my 20s and welcome my 30s with work on my head; I hardly travel at all, nor had the mind to; I didn't have time to meet friends, or have dinners or teas; I missed out on so many major movies I used to swear I would never miss; I didn't even stop to think that now I have my own outlet, until now. Which is pretty fucking surreal.

And then I came to my blog. And found it's left poorly attended to.

With such a huge gap of time since I've done some proper catching ups with my own thoughts, it feels weird I should, or could, write any of those stuff on this space. I've grown to be such a private person, and spilling my mind on a public space is, if anything, a little intimidating.

I stumbled onto the idea of owning a midori travel notebook. It's like an stationery arrangement system the Japanese created to journal things, photos, thoughts, itineraries and ideas down in a leather binder. The idea is pretty neat.

It has somehow never occurred to me about writing my own diary. Sure I don't travel as much anymore, but it's nice to document thoughts I'm reluctant to share on a public site. The idea only occurred for a day before I realize I may not have this sort of free time for myself for long. How long before I dive back into that hectic whirlwind of a work schedule.

I enjoy every minute of these challenges, and it's pretty exciting to be planning, organizing and executing almost all the time.

Ok end of muse. Time to pick up that book I have left aside for FAR TOO LONG.
