Still in Club Med Bali

It has been a long time since I updated my blog religiously hasn't it?

I've just been having so much in life righ now. And there's so much to figure out during this weird and twisting transition that I don't really have time to turn my attention to this little space.

How long has it been? I'm sure I've passed my 4th year anniversary of my blog, sometime this month. Wow, has it really been that long?

It does seem like eons ago when all those happened. And so many things have happened since, many turns of events that put me in the highlights of my life and the worst time too.

But anywaaaay....

It's my last night in Club Med Bali and it's just so beautiful and relaxing here I don't want to go back.

Been here for four days and all I've been doing were drinking cocktails in the morning,

beers in the afternoon,

sleeping by the beach (just got to love those shaded beds),

hippity-hop in the pool,

lazing in the pool,

drinking in the pool.

watch movie on Ipad in the pool's pavilion,

sirloin steak for afternoon teas,

windsurfing, kayaking, walking, in the sea,

surperb buffet for dinners (did I mention buffet was superb?),

then partying and drinking at night.

Can I stay here?

Forever.

Or until I can't feel my legs anymore.

Geez, my legs are totally hurting from windsurfing. T_T

Ouh................... *shifting butt cheeks and legs*

Sago Worms

This post simply compost of one thing I found most fascinating during my last trip to Sarawak.

sago worms

Sago worms.

The larvae of the Red Palm Weevils - type of beetle. These crawlers feed and live on the trunk of the sago palm trees, most popular in South East Asia.

And to the natives of Borneo, these babies are delicacies.

Ok. If you feel sick by now, I suggest you close or ALT-F4 this window right now, else... brace yourself people, because it's getting wormy.

I've included all the photos I've ever taken of the Sago Worms in this trip in this post just to prepare of what I am about to post in my next post.

See it as a teaser post, shall we?

Because my challenge on this third trip to Kuching, you know it, was to eat it.

Since the first day I learned about the sago worm almost four years ago, I knew one day it would be my destiny to savour and sample these local delectables grown in our homeland.

What can I say, I was sick, and loved an adventure in the gastronomy side of travelling.

So guys...

Chic Pop

*Update* Samples to be given away and contest extended. Read on.

I visited Chic Pop Street Market at TTDI two Sunday ago.

Despite my illness that has been going on for 2 weeks, I decided it was high time I headed out for a walk, much to my baby’s disagreement. So to celebrate of me breaking out of my imprisonment from home, I dressed up for the afternoon.

The street market was rather busy despite my arriving during the lazy afternoon hour.

Don’t you just love spending your weekend browsing through random cute things that might end up in your shopping bag?

It’s one of my favourite past times especially done with my sweetheart.

I registered at the Tongue in Chic counter to get myself some goodie samples before adjourning to wander through the bazaar.

goodies

The most eye catching booth at the market was undoubtedly Whisper’s.

ttdi street market

Alright to be honest, I was asked to visit the booth. But then again there were a lot of people surrounding the very big rented area by Whisper, which only stirred my curiosity.

Being a typical claustrophobic, especially among crowds, I glided towards the other end of the booth where they were lesser crowds only to return when the ladies on this end subsided.

whisper photo booth

And there it was, a cute little Whisper photo booth. Awe...

Just for the sake of it, I promptly jotted down my name and had the photographer taken my photo.

cute pose

posing for whisper

Apparently I was also in the running to win a slumber party at Ritz Carlton with four of my friends. Wow… If only I knew, I would have done a really crazy pose. (ok maybe not, I suck at crazy poses)

My photo has already made it to the site! Go check!

happy overnights
They scanned from the photo printed, so the quality didn’t seem that nice.

I could think of lots of things to do with my friends at a swanky hotel with 5 star services at my disposal. Champagne… Chocolates… Strawberries… Pillow with lots of feathers…

And for the other gender’s preference of imagination,

If you weren’t at the Street Market that day and missed the photo opportunity, you can still join the contest by submitting photos of you with your friends to the site before 5th November and check back to see if your photo has made it to the page.

Here’s a print screen on steps to a perfect submission.

steps

My tip? Try photos that represent fun, energy and wild. (That’s what Whisper is all about, isn’t it? Happier period. No restriction.)

Some of the photos submitted are pretty good. In comparison to those, I don’t think I can win but hey… nothing wrong with keeping one’s hope up.

Moving back to the previous booth, the crowd earlier has moved on and it was time for me to have a peep.

ribbons

Erm… table full of ribbons. What was this?

The lady handed me a Whisper pouch and asked me to create a custom design on the spot, and she would hand me a gift.

whisper pouch

I swore I almost died on the spot.

Did that lady just … just… asked me to… sew??

me and whisper pouch

She must be kidding me. I couldn’t sew to save my life!

My mom was a great sewer, my maid could sew just about anything, my aunt was a tailor for god’s sake! And growing up among these talents meant I never needed to touch so much a needle, least to say to CREATE a design?!

me sewing whisper pouch

But I convinced myself, it couldn’t be that bad. Afterall, it’s just a couple of buttons and ribbons and glittery things on a tiny pouch, how hard could it be.

figuring out how to sew

Perhaps I’d just randomly throw in a few simple blings on top of the pouch and patch them together with strings, done and done.

sewing a button

MUCH (and I say this with regret) to my despair, after a desperate 15 minutes attempt and two crystals cut off later, baby took over the still very bare pouch, shoving me aside. T_T

pout
Sad face

casey had a go

“I can sew” he claimed.

Shaming me to non-existent as a woman who couldn’t even handle her needles, so I watched, with worshipful glint in my eyes as my baby expertly picked up a needle and folded the pouch over his hand.

casey sewing

And he sewed.

And sewed.

casey smiling and sewing

And…

And……

He failed.

FHL.

“It’s harder than I thought, my hands are too big!” he wailed.

Wtf. I thought he said he could sew. (apparently only with buttons and shirts)

I could take back my worshipping comment now thank you. FML

“Now we’ll never get the gift” I sighed.

sad look
More sad face.

So with ONE LAST TRY (determined), I decided to get SOMETHING, ANYTHING on to that pouch.

green ribbon

I started off with a dozen designs on my head.

And half an hour and struggling at the booth, and with more people swarming in and squeezing for space to sew, it was time for desperate measure.

Any design at this moment was good.

A quick 5 minutes later, I was DONE!

yay got a button on

Simplicity at its best!

God I was so happy!

I finally got a button sewed ON! All on my own!

sewn a button

I don’t care what anyone would say, I am damn proud of my creation. ^^

whisper pouch with a button

And I got my gift!

whisper overnight

Weee….

It’s a 40cm long overnight Whisper pad for heavy flows.

whisper overnight packaging

whisper 40cm pad

Wow I’ve never actually seen such a HUGE pad before. I wished they had this when I was 13 and always had a problem in overnight leaks.

The pad was long enough to cover till the hip ends so those sneaky blood couldn’t escape!

I wouldn’t need to suffer so much embarrassment and save me the trouble of worrying that I might wake up staining the entire bed, so much to the point I didn’t dare to shift when I was falling sleeping.

With this, a girl could have an easy mind falling asleep.

Anyway, 10 samples of the Whisper Overnight to be given away to 10 readers who leave their comments describing themselves in one word (e.g. fresh/vibrant). Remember to leave your blog url in the comment too.

And the Contest has also been extended to 28th November so keep on submitting your photos to the site.

Till then, have a happy overnight period!

happy overnights

The Crazy Old Days

I missed the crazy old days with my crazy old ways.

What happened to the spontaneous me that did crazy old stunts and ate crazy food?

People age and settle and I've been rather please with my apartment and life and ways.

But every now and then, I think of the crazy old days and my crazy old stunts and smile.

There was once a crazy young exuberant girl that would travel to the ends of the world to seek her adventure and find her entertainment and explore her world.

blurry me

It was the good old days.

3 weeks illness

This has to be the longest illness I've ever suffered since puberty.

It's the 4th week of my coughing and if you were to tell me coughing would cause me so much pain three weeks ago I would not have believed it.

I had not been able to function properly anywhere outside the threshold of my apartment or my parents house (was back over the weekend).

Lost count of how many nights I have not been able to sleep due to consistent coughing and I have tried endless remedies. So far I'm finishing four bottles of cough syrup (most disgusting thing ever), a bottle of chinese 'pi pa gao', a session of antibiotics as prescripted by the doctor (useless thing), fever pills, lots of panadols (had on and off fever caused by coughing), had a blood test, and saliva test, had those chinese herbal thing that my mom fed me with: ling yang jiao, yang sheng xu, etc.

And I'm still coughing like a hyena on the loose.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Due to my sickness, I have put aside almost everything including my work and social life just to mend myself right. But nothing seemed to work.

After three weeks of absense, I returned to Marie France last friday with my phlegm throwing coughs and decided to finish my sessions.

I could have sworn three weeks of lying in bed doing nothing but eat and sleep would have made me gained a painful amount of kilos.

When the consultant asked me to step on the weighing machine, I closed my eyes and stopped breathing. It was the scariest moment of my life.

Well not really but you get my point.

Then... she said... the most unexpected thing...

"You lost weight"

I shot my eyes open and looked at her blankly.

"Huh?"

Really?

Well turns out I lost water, and 1kg of muscles, if one were to be precised.

Duh, what else would I expect after lying in bed for three weeks eating praticallly nothing unhealthy at all but doing none so whatever work out either.

As for my fat? Well, I did lose some fat, all but 0.1kg of it.

Damn it.

I proceeded to let the therapist perform all those treatments on me, one of the two was HMA - I think it was where they attached these little patches all over my body and let the electric current did the work. I did pass motion the next day. So I guessed it kinda worked, since being sick has made that difficult too. @_@

Next I did the ALT - sea scrub and hot blanket. I wasn't paying too much attention as I was coughing in between my sleep.

Weeks of sleepless nights make you sleep during any time of the day.

Good massages from the love Marie France therapist helped.

zzZzzZzzz.......

Beautiful Face 365

I recently received a set of b.liv products to review at home.

bliv review set

After recovering from a long lasting never-ending-like sickness, it was the right time to save my skin with a new regime.

So this is my face before.

before face

Before one starts with any facial regime, always pull your hair back. I’m using this pink hairband with I found at the back of my closet.

putting on a head band

headband on

There, ready to start.

I had some make ups on as I went out in the day so I have to remove them first.

With a wet wipe.

Wipe away the foundation and powder.

Wipe away lipstick.

clean face
Ok. So I leave my eye make up on. It’s only for photography purposes. *vain*

First I’m using Squeaky Clean – the cleanser.

with bliv squeaky clean

Squeaky Clean comes in a pump bottle and acts as a cleanser and exfoliator. The green-ish gel has a slight green tea scent to it, and feels refreshing on your face.

squeezing cleanser

Pump 2-3 pea sized of gel out and lather with water before moving in circular motion on your face.

circular motion

apply cleanser

This helps remove impurities including white- and blackheads from your face, focusing on areas where you have most clogs.

Wash off and done.

squeaky clean face
Now I’m all fresh and clean.

Then comes the second part: Off With Those Heads.

off with those heads sebum

This magic little bottle contains all the solutions to your white- and blackheads problems. It’s also one of their hottest selling items.

The clear gel has a peppermint scent that would leave your skin feels cool after application. Basically the gel softens your clogs in your pores and over time will naturally extract them out from your pores.

sebum on finger

Leaving your pores clean and smooth in two weeks’ time.

apply off with those heads

Cover your T-zone properly (or wherever you feel cloggy) and massage the gel into your skin. The gel gets absorbed quickly so you only require a few gentle rubs.

After that, apply Oil-Leviate (for oil controlling) or Quench Me (for hydration) as moisturizers. Since I don’t have any of these products, I shall skip this part and apply my usual daily moisturizer here.

Finally, the last and most important step that every girl MUST do but always fails to do.

The sunblock application.

got me covered

Got Me Covered has got to my favourite product by far. It’s a foundation with oil controlling formula and sunblock (of SPF 35!) altogether.

applying got me covered

I uber love this product to the max.

Most sunblock product leaves your skin feeling sticky and gluey, but the foundation makes my face feels smooth like I just applied liquid foundation and a two-way cake/loose powder on it.

praying

applying foundation + sunblock

The tinted tone even conceals my freckles and dark circles.

After that I just applied a little bit of blush and DONE!

after face

No photoshop.

No make up. Just a little bit of blush.

Here are two photos for comparisons before and after using b.liv products.

Before:

before face
Make up appear a bit oily, a bit dull and blotchy.

After b.liv’s 1. Squeaky Clean, 2. Off With Those Heads, 3. Got Me Covered

Complete transformation.

Got Me Covered is going to be my daily foundation + sunblock from now on. I can’t emphasize enough of how much I love this product.

Wait. That’s not all. We’re done with the daily regime, now onto the weekly ritual.

Leach Me mask.

leach me mask

This mask is a wonder. It moisturize, brightens your skin and most essentially, prevents signs of aging.

After the age of 25, a girl has to perform vital ritual to prevent their skin from aging, from anti-aging cream to eye cream to mask.

Prevention is better than cure.

peeling off leach me mask

There are three masks in each box. Peel off one packet and unfold the mask.

putting on

Then peel off the white protective plastic sheet and gently lay the mask over your face.

gel mask on face

The best thing about Leach Me mask is that it covers every inches of your face, including the area around your nose where most sheet masks fail to reach.

Then leave it rest for 20-30 minutes.

leach me mask on my face
Don’t make me laugh *hold*

When time is up, slowly lift away the mask from bottom.

You will find that there’s going to be a lot of excess gel on left on your face.

Don’t wipe them off!

Instead massage them in to allow your face to fully absorb every bit of goodness.

massage gel into face
So refreshing!

There’s another mask I have which is called Glow and Shine.

glow and shine

Because I’ve already applied the first mask on my face, I’m going to test this out on my hand.

apply glow and shine on hand

Squeeze from tube and spread evenly on face. Leave for 5-10 minutes.

glow and shine mask on hand

This is a very unique clay mask that works in a way when after 10 minutes, you wet your mask and start massaging into your skin.

wet mask and massage

You will feel many little particles exfoliating your skin as your massage. It’s an exfoliating mask that removes dead skins, unclog pores, minimize your pores and also clear up your skin, giving it a beautiful glow.

wash off

Can you see the glow?

hand after mask
Ohmigod, it’s even brighter than my face!

So there, a clean and fresh looking me.

sweet smile

Not so bad after a week’s of sickness.
